Pop Up Math
A Daily Number Routine
What current students are saying about the Meaningful Math Learning online classroom:
Darlene's Math For Success's online classroom is building my confidence and my growth mindset on how to successfully teach math in a fast paced and very engaging way. Just to warn you...Darlene's passion to learn new skills towards teaching math is contagious. Plus...who doesn't love to do P.D. in their P.J.'s snuggled on their couch at home! ~ Margaret L.
I have just started my lessons on the online classroom. Already I've been able to apply what I have learned from Darlene as well as my classmates. Darlene provides feedback to our assignments quickly. This helps guide my thinking and helps me with the direction I need to go in next. My classmates are able to chime in as well. Just like in our own classrooms we can learn from each other and see each others thinking. Thanks Darlene for this learning opportunity! ~ Mary S.
It has been stated in published educational materials that incorporating number routines into your daily math classes helps our students gain number sense.
This course introduces you to one incredibly active and engaging number routine I have named “POP UP”. I have done this number routine over the past 15 years with students Kindergarten to Grade 6 and they ALL love it! It is amazing how much curriculum content can be covered in a short few minutes (2-5 minutes).
You will walk a way with a bank of questions you can use in your classrooms from myself and other teachers enrolled in this course. To add you will write your own pop questions which once again, will provide you the opportunity to make connections to the curriculum in which you teach.
